Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky returned to the capital Kyiv on Friday after a trip to the US amid Russia's assault on the country. After returning to Ukraine, President Zelensky issued a statement saying that the Ukrainian army is moving toward victory. At the same time, Russia launched fresh attacks on the whole of Ukraine.

Ukraine receives new military aid worth US dollars

Zelensky said in a post on his Telegram account that he was at his office in Kyiv after his trip to the US. He said that during his visit, a new military aid worth USD 1.8 billion was secured. He also resolved that we will overcome everything. Zelenksy has returned at a time when Ukraine is continuously carrying out airstrikes on the eastern and southern front as well as other parts of the country.

The war will continue till the military objective is met

At the same time, Moscow reiterated that the war will continue until its military objectives are met. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the war would end at the negotiating table after the special military operation had achieved the goals set by the Russian Federation. He said that significant progress has been achieved in the direction of demilitarization of Ukraine. A Kremlin spokesman said that any so-called peace plan for Ukraine cannot be successful without taking into account today's realities. He was apparently referring to Moscow's demand that Ukraine recognizes Russia's sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula, which Russia gained control of in 2014.

Russian army fired rockets on Ukrainian territory overnight

Peskov said Russian President Vladimir Putin would visit an arms factory in Tula, about 150 kilometers south of Moscow, on Friday and chair a meeting on the country's arms industry there. The Ukrainian military said Russian forces fired rockets at Ukrainian territory more than 70 times overnight. Meanwhile, fierce fighting broke out around the town of Bakhmut in the eastern Donetsk region, where regional governor Pavlo Kirilenko said four people were killed and seven others wounded the previous day
